THE DATAHUB TRAP

Do not pay debt collection fees caused by system errors.

Have you fallen into the Datahub Trap?

Finland's centralised data exchange system for the electricity market, Fingrid Datahub, operates automatically in the background. When you take out a new electricity contract or move, the system may blindly overwrite the separate billing addresses and valid e-invoicing orders in all your other contracts as well.

As a result, the original invoices of the electricity and transmission companies are directed to empty dwellings, dwellings under renovation or old dwellings, where no one reads them. When the invoice fails to arrive, the debt collection automation used by the energy companies sends you payment reminders and debt collection letters with fees directly.

This site has been established as consumer activism against the electricity sector's systematic address mix-ups and the debt collection business that profits from them. In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act and good debt collection practice, you are not obliged to pay reminder and debt collection fees if the delay in payment is due to an error by the party issuing the invoice or its system.
